News From Our Churches

Rev. George Lubbers preached his farewell sermon in Pella, Iowa, on April 30 and has since moved to Jenison, Michigan, to begin his retirement. Pella called Rev. Rodney Miersma of Isabel, South Dakota, who has accepted his call and plans to move to Pella and take up his labors there by the end of May. Isabel has extended a call to Rev. Arie den Hartog of Covenant Protestant Reformed Church in Prospect Park, New Jersey. 

Due to the fact that their pastor is also retiring, the council of our Southwest Church has scheduled a congregational meeting on May 16 to call a pastor from a trio of Rev. David Engelsma, Rev. James Slopsema, and Rev. Ronald VanOverloop. The council is planning a farewell program for. Rev. and Mrs. Veldman the evening of June 22. 

The Spring Mr. & Mrs. Society League meeting was held on May 9 in Southeast Church. Rev. VanBaren spoke on the topic, "The Last Days and the Theories About Them." The .Sunday School teachers plan a Spring Mass Meeting On May 23 in Hope Church. Prof. H. Hanko plans to speak on "How to Teach Parables."
